A Minecraft server list without paid ranks

Many server owners ask the same question before they list: can a new server get seen at all, or do the top places belong to whoever pays? On BestMCServerList no place in the list can be bought. This page explains how the order is calculated, so you know exactly what moves your server.

  • Votes count

One counted vote is one Glow point before boosts.

  • Monthly seasons

Every month starts fresh, so new servers can reach the top.

  • Newcomer boost

New servers get +25 % on their points for the first 30 days.

  • Nothing to buy

There are no paid places and no paid boosts.

How the order is calculated

The "Top" list sorts servers by their Glow points in the current month. Glow comes from three things:

  • Counted votes. One counted vote is one Glow before boosts. Every Minecraft name and every IP address can vote once per server and day.
  • A complete listing. A complete, well written listing earns a small bonus.
  • Uptime with players. A server that stays online earns a little more for every full day of good uptime and players.

Boosts add up and are capped, and they only apply to points earned after they start. They never rewrite older points. All rules are on the page How ranking works.

Monthly seasons give new servers a chance

Each month is its own season and switches at midnight German time. Total points are kept as well, but the "Top" list looks at the current month. A server that launched last week competes with the same rules as one that has been listed for a year.

Next to "Top" there is "Trending", which follows recent votes, and "New", which shows the newest approved servers and ignores votes.

Short outages do not cost your place

A server that is offline right now keeps its place and is marked "offline", so a restart or a short outage does not throw it out of the list. A server leaves the public board only when its last status check is older than 14 days.

What you can do to climb

  1. Complete your listing: description, icon, banner, website, Discord, game modes and languages.
  2. Keep the server online and stable.
  3. Set up Votifier rewards, so players vote every day.
  4. Remind players to vote, with /vote, the widget on your website or the vote button.

Bought or faked votes are not "doing more". Votes should come from real players. One player voting for many names breaks the rules and the trust of your community.

And other lists?

Some server lists sell top spots or extra visibility. That is a business model, and those lists can still bring you players. List on several lists, read how each one sorts its entries, and decide for yourself where your time goes. On BestMCServerList the order simply cannot be bought.
