How votes reach your server
- A player opens your vote page and enters their Minecraft name.
- BestMCServerList counts the vote, once per name, IP address and day.
- The vote is sent to NuVotifier on your server, with protocol v1 (RSA key) or v2 (token).
- A reward plugin such as VotingPlugin sees the vote and hands out the reward.
NuVotifier only receives votes. The reward itself, items, money, keys or a vote party, comes from the reward plugin.
Setting it up in three steps
- Install NuVotifier on your server, or on the proxy if you run Velocity or BungeeCord. The NuVotifier guide covers ports, tokens and proxy forwarding.
- Enter host, port and token on your Votifier page and send a test vote.
- Add rewards with a reward plugin. The VotingPlugin guide explains VoteSites.yml and the service name that has to match.
The Votifier port must be reachable from the internet. If the test vote does not arrive, check the port first.
Rewards that keep players voting
- Small and daily: a few coins, a crate key or a short boost work better than one big reward that breaks your economy.
- Streaks: an extra reward for voting several days in a row turns voting into a habit.
- Vote parties: a reward for everyone online when the server reaches a vote goal together.
- Fair for everyone: rewards should not give voters an unfair edge in PvP.
Remind players where they vote
Most players forget to vote unless they see a reminder. Use a /vote command with your vote link, a line in your MOTD or scoreboard, and a post in your Discord. On your website, embed the live status widget or a vote button. You copy the code from your dashboard.
What votes do for your place in the list
Each counted vote is one Glow point before boosts, and the "Top" list sorts by Glow in the current month. Votes cannot be bought on BestMCServerList, and neither can places. The page How ranking works lists every rule.
