Votifier setup: vote rewards for your Minecraft server

With Votifier your server gets a message for every vote on BestMCServerList, and a reward plugin gives the player their reward. This guide shows how to set up NuVotifier, check it with a test vote and fix common errors.

1. Install NuVotifier

  1. Download NuVotifier and put the JAR into the plugins folder of your server (Spigot, Paper or your proxy).
  2. Restart the server once. NuVotifier creates its config, on Spigot and Paper at plugins/Votifier/config.yml.
  3. Check the port in the config. The default is 8192. This port must be reachable from the internet; on a hosting panel you often have to add it as an extra port and then put that number into the config.
  4. Install a reward plugin that reacts to Votifier votes and set up what players get.

2. v2 with a token or v1 with a public key

ModeWhat you enterWhere to find it
NuVotifier v2 (recommended)Host, port, tokenToken in the NuVotifier config under tokens, entry default
Votifier v1 (RSA)Host, port, public keyContent of plugins/Votifier/rsa/public.key

For the host, enter the public address of your server. Internal names and private addresses like localhost or 192.168.x.x are refused, because we connect from outside.

3. Enter it on BestMCServerList and test

  1. In your dashboard, open the Votifier page of your server.
  2. Pick the mode, enter host, port and token or public key, and save.
  3. Press "Send test vote". We send a vote for the name TestVote; it does not count for the ranking.
  4. The delivery log below shows "Delivered" or an error with a hint within seconds.

If a delivery fails, we retry automatically. A vote that cannot be delivered within a day is dropped.

4. Bedrock players with Geyser and Floodgate

Bedrock players vote with their Floodgate name including the prefix, usually a dot, for example .Steve. * and - are allowed as prefixes too. We pass the name to Votifier unchanged so your reward plugin finds the right player.

Common errors and fixes

ProblemWhat you can do
Connection refusedIs NuVotifier running? Does the port match the config, and does the firewall let it through?
Timed outA firewall probably drops traffic to this port. Open the port at your host.
No Votifier greetingAnother service answers on that port, often the game port. Enter the Votifier port.
Wrong versionThe server speaks another Votifier version. Check whether v1 or NuVotifier v2 is running.
Vote rejectedWith NuVotifier the token usually does not match tokens.default. Copy the token again and save.
Public key invalidPaste the whole content of plugins/Votifier/rsa/public.key.
Private networkEnter the public address of your server, not an internal one.

If the test vote arrives but players get nothing, the reward plugin is missing: without a plugin that listens for votes, NuVotifier logs "no listeners available".

Frequently asked questions

What is Votifier?

Votifier is a server plugin that listens on a port and receives a message for every vote on a server list. A reward plugin on your server then gives the player their reward. NuVotifier is the maintained version and speaks protocol v1 and v2.

Should I use v1 or v2?

Use v2 with a token if your server runs NuVotifier. v1 with the RSA public key exists for old Votifier installations.

Which port does Votifier use?

By default 8192. It is a separate port from the game port and must be reachable from the internet. On a hosting panel you often have to add it as an extra port.

Where do I find the token?

In the NuVotifier config file under tokens, the entry named default. On Spigot or Paper that is plugins/Votifier/config.yml.

How do I test it?

Save your settings, then press "Send test vote" on your Votifier page. We send a vote for the name TestVote that does not count for the ranking. The delivery log shows within seconds whether it arrived.

Do Bedrock players get rewards too?

Yes, if your server runs Geyser with Floodgate. They vote with their Floodgate name including the prefix, for example .Steve, and we pass that name to Votifier unchanged.
